The Original Mangrove Reef Wall Installed 2016 and surviving Hurricanes Ian and Milton, these panels continue to develop as an artificial reef over an existing concrete seawall that was installed in the 1950's. Sponsored by Weston's WannaB Inn (now Manasota Key Resort) and The Curtis and Edith Munson Foundation, Reef Wall panels were part of an initiative at the resort to extend native landscape plantings beyond the seawall and demonstrate innovative living seawall designs. The precast panels utilized high strength and low carbon footprint concrete with bio-additives to make the panels marine-friendly.
